B&W Photo of Old VolunteersWelcome to Volunteers of America of Kentucky, where we serve individuals and families in need throughout the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Southern Indiana.

At Volunteers of America, we don’t just serve one population.  We serve those who need help the most.  And because our mission is so broad, we play a critical role in community change, filling important gaps so that those who would be overlooked, those who are the most vulnerable, can count on Volunteers of America.  Some cannot imagine doing what we do.  We cannot imagine not doing it!

As part of one of the nation's largest human services organizations serving more than 2 million people every year, we see the potential in everyone and help them accomplish more than they ever thought possible.

Volunteers of America opened its first location in Kentucky in 1896, the same year our nationwide movement began with the promise to "go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand."  Since then, we have truly followed this call by expanding services into three additional states, responding to local community needs and serving those who need help the most.

Compassion, empowerment and hope.  These underlying values of our founding vision have led Volunteers of America of Kentucky to serve others in many different ways.

With our century-old faith-based mission "to reach and uplift people," Volunteers of America of is one of the oldest, most diversified and most effective charities.

Working in partnership with local faith congregations, government agencies, businesses, individuals, and other nonprofit organizations, and supported by thousands of individual donors and volunteers, we seek to meet many of the most pressing social needs in the communities we serve.

Our innovative human services directly address the quality of life in Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Southern Indiana by meeting the material, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals; by strengthening families, and by building healthier, more productive, and more compassionate communities for all of us.

Our Mission of Service

Our mission is to create positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service.  Won’t you join us?
